E-Liquid has always been the heart of the electronic cigarette. Batteries, tube shaped devices and vaporizing have been around for many years, but this specially mixed formula of ingredients is the rare commodity.
It’s under thought and over thought… It’s viewed as an advanced formula to some, but to others its second nature to whip up a few bottles. In reality, e-liquid is a very simple and easily mass produced product. However, if you’re not into the glitz and glamour of the e-liquid industry and want nothing more than to vape all its goodness, then you’re left with only a few decisions; flavor choice, nicotine strength and ratio preference. Today, we’ll be laying down details on e-liquid ratio preference.
Your preferred e-liquid ratio plays a huge factor in your experience with electronic cigarettes. It adds to the deciding factor for vapor production and flavor. Before we go over those two factors, let’s first talk about the e-liquid ratio itself.
The E-Liquid Ratio
An e-liquid ratio is the percentage of the combined Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG). Most vendors who sell e-liquid offer it in different ratios, ranging from a 100%(PG) to a 100%(VG). Some common ratios are 70%(PG) – 30%(VG) and 50%(PG) – 50%(VG). Many believe that the more VG used, the better the vapor production and the more PG, the better the flavor.
Many believe that the more VG used, the better the vapor production. If you’re using a higher PG percentage than VG, it doesn’t mean you won’t produce a decent amount of vapor, it just means you are less likely to produce as much vapor as if you would by using a higher percentage of VG. What makes VG so prominent for vapor production is because it is a thicker liquid and has the ability to capture moisture from the air, thus creating a large cloud-like vapor.
Flavor has been one of the influences in e-liquid that have helped many make the switch. It’s said that PG intensifies the flavor, as well as throat hit. Food for thought, many also believe that PG helps fight sickness since it’s a potent germicide. So, if you want a boost in flavor and don’t mind smaller clouds of vapor, try adjusting your ratio with a higher PG percentage.
