Country Bumpkin And Harvest Moon – A Rocket Fuel Vapes eLiquid Review

In Keira’s recent, and popular, column last week she wrote about the lack of limited edition, or time-limited eLiquids from eJuice brands. She made many good points, especially about certain seasonal flavors becoming major sellers and how they wind up being put in the permanent lineup.  Well, as luck would have it, the other day we were treated to two new flavors from Rocket Fuel Vapes that I think would make excellent year-round flavors. From the very first vape I fell for both new flavors in a very big way. If you have ever taken our advice before I hope you will this time, and if you haven’t yet, now is a good time to start.

Rocket Fuel Vapes is one of the fastest growing eLiquid brands right now, and the company isn’t even 6 months old yet. Right from the beginning these guys have been releasing some of the most delicious eLiquids, developed and bottled in state of the art facilities and bottled in terrific PET plastic bottles, shrink-wrapped and tamper-proof, and all the information you could want on their colorful labels. A first class operation, Rocket Fuel is going to be a name you hear about often.

Like most of you I don’t like wasting money on eJuice or vape supplies. That is why when I get a new bottle of eJuice I always start out by filling a Kanger single-coil 510 cartomizer with the new juice before using a larger clearomizer or tank. If I don’t like the flavor, or even if I do like it but don’t feel it’s quite good enough for long-term vaping I don’t want to have to fill a large clearomizer with the stuff and having to wind up tossing out the coils long before they stop working. I don’t want to pour 2.5ML to 6ML into a tank or clearomizer and wind up letting it sit half full until it spoils, which can happen in as little as 2 weeks if left out in the open. Coils aren’t cheap either, so testing it first with a cartomizer affords me the opportunity to see just how much I like it, or dislike it, before moving on to my everyday hardware.

First Impressions can fool you sometimes. Even when I start off with a simple cartomizer and discover that I love the flavor it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to taste just as good in other eLiquid devices. We all know how flavor can change depending on what you’re using, for me its anything in the Kanger EVOD-style coils that alter the flavor the most. Short wicks and metal tips change the flavor for me in dramatic ways.

My vape gear preferences are long-wick clearomizers (Halo Triton) or cartomizers. Kanger’s extra long (2.2-inch) cartomizers, in 510 and 808 threads are excellent cartomizers for casual vaping. I will also vape my trusty Johnson Creek Vea, using their Rev 3 cartomizers and Canteen clearomizers. Recently I’ve added the Vapor4Life Vapor Zeus, which I really love, but I only have the one battery, a 650 dual mode, and at more than $60 a pop I don’t see myself adding more of them to my collection of gear any time soon. I love the thing, but it is expensive. And honestly, I haven’t used my ProVari in a while, and I don’t even bother with the iTaste products that come in, I ship them up north immediately to the staff members that love those kinds of PV’s.

As you can see, I keep my vaping simple, using affordable hardware that provides an excellent vaping experience. That said I do understand how Tom and Jason, and even Julia and Keira, love the larger gear and the fancy tanks. Julia is anxiously awaiting a new “mini” ZMAX (in metallic blue of course), which I hope to send up to Boston today. As I type this I have a Vision Spinner and the long Kanger cartomizer filled with Harvest Moon, and a Halo Triton Variable Voltage with a tank of full of Country Bumpkin.

The Review

Today I am declaring that the Publisher’s Choice Award is being presented to both new flavors from Rocket Fuel Vapes; Harvest Moon Tobacco and Country Bumpkin.

Country Bumpkin – “This pumpkin vape is an aromatic blend of fresh pumpkin, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. The perfect vape for the upcoming chilly autumn days.” – rocket fuel vapes

From the very first vape with the 510 cartomizer I was absolutely blown away. The flavor of Country Bumpkin is magnificent. An abundant amount of gingerbread flows over the taste buds, followed by a clove-spicy pumpkin flavor that instantly took me back to the days in New Hampshire in late October, taking my kids to the Halloween festivities at the local apple orchard. The times we spent at Sunny Crest farms picking out pumpkins for carving, stocking up on locally made pumpkin bread and the last of the season’s apples were flooding my memories like I was actually there. I saw myself in my red plaid wool shirt, my wife in her heavy coat (she hates the cold) and my kids running up and down the orchard rows all excited and full of life. This is what Country Bumpkin has the power to evoke.

I handed my Vision Spinner to my wife, a Vaper as well, and demanded she try it immediately. She too loved it, and wanted to fill a clearomizer right away. Both of us spent the remainder of the evening vaping Country Bumpkin and reminiscing about Sunny Crest.

Unlike many other late-October or Halloween flavors, or even year-round pumpkin flavored eLiquid, Country Bumpkin hits you with the spicy-clove and gingerbread flavors more so than pumpkin. It’s like enjoying a slice of pumpkin pie that was made extra spicy with cloves and cinnamon rather than plain pumpkin pie filling. This is a flavor that has to be made available year round, or I’m going to be one sad Vaper.

To put it as simply as I can; Country Bumpkin is a MUST BUY eLiquid. Stop what you’re doing right now and bring up Rocket Fuel Vapes in another browser window. Put a 30ML bottle in your shopping cart. Now finish reading the rest of this review because you’re going to want to add Harvest Moon too.

Harvest Moon – “The classic taste of autumn paired with a sweet, mild tobacco! This a pumpkin tobacco infused with strong hints of nutmeg, clove, and ginger. If you love tobacco vapes, you’ve gotta give this one a try!”

If you like tobacco flavored eLiquid there is no way in the world you’re not going to love Harvest Moon. You’ll notice some of the same flavorings in Harvest Moon that are also in Country Bumpkin but they are delivered in a completely different way.

The first flavor you’ll notice is a rich, true tobacco flavor. It reminded me of a smooth, light pipe tobacco, nothing at all like cigarette tobacco. I knew instantly that this was a tobacco flavor I would be able to vape all day long. While Tom and Jason can vape strong, bold tobacco eJuice all day every day I tend to get a headache after a couple of hours, no matter what the nicotine level is. The tobacco in Harvest Moon is also a bit sweeter, no doubt due to the other flavorings, but binding to the tobacco flavor as though the tobacco itself was infused with a certain sweetness.

Once you get a good bit of the tobacco flavor the others begin to work their way in quickly. Sweet clove and ginger mingle with pumpkin flavor, which mingle with the tobacco flavor and all together they form this unique, autumn inspired flavor profile that whisked me away from the heat and humidity of Florida and dropped me in my backyard in Bow New Hampshire, with the fire colored leaves of the oak and birch trees that line my fence, and the sweater-weather breeze bringing in a cool fresh feeling to my whole body. All I wanted to do was jump on a plane and fly home, put one of my cardigan’s on (which I haven’t worn in almost 4 years), and stand on my backyard deck and vape until nightfall. Then I would walk into my house, start a glorious fire in the fireplace, and sit back in my over-stuffed recliner and relax and think about the upcoming holidays and forget all about the trails and tribulations that life in Florida bring you.

Harvest Moon is not Country Bumpkin in a tobacco dress. You won’t taste the same amount of gingerbread (or is it ginger?), and the spicy clove flavor isn’t reminiscent of clove-flavored eLiquid, it’s much better than that. It’s a perfect combination of clove spices and ginger… sweeter, richer, more satisfying than anything you’ve ever vaped with cloves.  Harvest Moon is a masterpiece of artistry and craftsmanship, a full flavored tobacco eJuice flavor with just the right amount of autumn flavors. Vapor production is thick and aromatic, the throat hit is fabulous, and the satisfaction you need from a good vape is abundant.

Now, switch back to the Rocket Fuel Vapes window in your browser and add a 30ML bottle of Harvest Moon. If you want to save on shipping, then go ahead and add a bottle of Cat’s Meow, Dolly’s Blue Ribbon, Limerick, and Hello Sunshine. If not, then checkout with Harvest Moon and Country Bumpkin. But let me warn you right now; if you order the 10ML bottle you’re going to kick yourself when it arrives. 10ML bottles of these two flavors, or any flavor really, just isn’t big enough. What you’ll wind up doing is trying both flavors and jumping back on Rocket Fuel Vapes to place another order. You’ll want to type in message window “Made mistake! Need NOW” and you’ll beg them to ship the larger bottles immediately. I’m telling you the truth.

I can think of only one reason why you shouldn’t order these new flavors. If you read the flavors, ginger, cloves, pumpkin, tobacco, and nutmeg and cinnamon and think to yourself, “Yuck, I hate those flavors”, then these aren’t for you. But, on the other hand, if you read this review and it sounds like something you would like, then the fact is you’ll love them. Period.

Final Words

I know some of you will think that I’m spending an inordinate amount of time writing about Rocket Fuel Vapes. Some readers have said the same thing about other products we’ve reviewed, whether it was Halo Cigs, Mountain Oak Vapors, Ginger’s eJuice, or Hurricane Vapor. The truth is, we review what we love much more often than we review products we don’t like.

We are asked every day by vendors all over the country to review products they want to send us. If we think we’ll like it we’ll usually say yes, though that’s not always the case, and if we know we won’t like it, or if we know its overpriced, we’ll tell them straight out that its best we don’t review them (sometimes they send them anyway). Although that’s not a hard and fast rule and any staff member can write about whatever they want, it usually works out that way. Our thinking is that you, as well as us, would rather read about things we’ll like rather than things we won’t.

I don’t want to get off on a rant, but I read yesterday that there are more than 250 brands of electronic cigarettes in the US marketplace. Just in the US mind you! That’s a very conservative figure, but let’s use it for a moment. Out of those 250 “brands” there are a mere handful of different products. Why should Spinfuel, or any other publication, write a review about a company that isn’t doing anything new? If the only difference is the color of the battery or the logo, what’s the point?

But when it comes to American made eJuice, every brand is different, unique, because individuals with different palates, different skills, and different goals make them. This is why there are more eLiquid reviews in Spinfuel than hardware reviews. A JoyeTech eGo battery is the same battery whether its branded by Brand X or Brand Y, and as long as we review the JoyeTech battery from a vendor that offers fair prices, great customer service, and is well stocked, why bother reviewing every vendor carrying the same product?

Before you leave a comment below that reminds us that we’ve written a lot of reviews for Rocket Fuel Vapes, or Potion Vape, or Mountain Oak Vapors, or any other brand we really enjoy, perhaps now you’ll have some perspective about why. Until we’ve reviewed every flavor by every eJuice company we enjoy we’ll continue to write about them so you’ll know about too.

With respect to Harvest Moon and Country Bumpkin, these are two flavors that, if you buy them, you’ll come back here to this review and thank me for telling you about them. Are they the only flavors worth writing about? Certainly not. But they are awesome flavors, and if you’re the type of Vaper that loves to experience new flavors then you will want to try these two. It’s as simple as that.
