Kindle Book Review: Smokeless: An Introductory Guide To The Pleasure Of Vaping – John Castle – Author

Review by Dave Foster

Thanks to the Kindle App available for the Apple iPad I had the pleasure of reading Smokeless: An Introductory Guide To the Pleasures of Vaping by John Castle. A terrific, albeit short book covering everything you should know about vaping. This is where $2.99 of your hard-earning salary needs to be spent today.

It’s also available as a paperback for $8.15, but if you want something to read over the weekend I recommend the Kindle version.

The number of books coming out in digital form and hard copy on e-cigarettes, and vaping, is exploding, and as we buy them we’ll continue to let you know which ones are worth buying and which ones are not. John Castle’s book is definitely one you should read.

Smokeless: An Introductory Guide To The Pleasures Of Vaping is extremely informative but in a casual, easy to read way. Some parts are downright funny, others as serious as a tobacco-related heart attack.

This is very much a guide to the world of electronic cigarettes. Last week’s book review, TobakkoNacht, is a book on the antismoking endgame, and also a book you should be reading, but this one is about vaping and only vaping. The information within seems to have been distilled from hundreds of sources around the Internet, so you can look at as though John did a lot of work that you don’t have to.

As we here at Spinfuel eMagazine has always believed, Vaping is the best method for ‘tobacco harm reduction’ and Castle goes into great detail in support of this.

All the ‘Tech-Talk’ is mixed in with the John’s first-hand experience as a Vaper. He recounts his journey through the world of electronic cigarettes in a way that each of us will find funny, as we shake our heads in agreement as we experience the same things John did during our own journey.

All the technical terms associated with vaping are made more accessible, easy to understand, and definitely ‘relatable’. John provides a bit of a glossary in the beginning, and then goes through each type of electronic cigarette, from the NJOY to the eVic, and beyond. He explains how they work, why they work, and how you shouldn’t be afraid to expand your vaping knowledge and experience. I found it pretty amazing that he was able to cover so much in such a short, concise book.

There are chapters on atomizers, cartomizers, rebuildables and even wrapping your own coils. His ‘story’ about how he was introduced to “dripping” was both informative and funny. But he begins where he should begin, with cig-a-likes, disposables and rechargeable batteries.

In Part Two, entitled “The Ethical Stuff; in which I rant about busybodies” coincides with everything I believe about how this new activist liberalism is sticking its nose where it doesn’t belong, over and over and over. Good stuff!

His arguments against ‘state sanctioned’ (my words) methods for smoking cessation includes a devastating take down on Chantix that will have you wanting to break into every pharmacy in the country to destroy this obviously horrible drug.

In the end, Smokeless: An Introductory Guide To The Pleasures of Smoking, will provide each and every Vaper with everything they should know about, dare I say, The Art of Vaping (trademarked, Spinfuel eMagazine). It’s fun read, a terrific reference book to pick up whenever you need an answer to a question or concern, and if you take the time to read it you’ll be ready to help others who might become interested in making the switch from deadly tobacco to e-cigarettes.

To be honest, I was kinda bummed that in his Resources and Recommendations he didn’t mention Spinfuel eMagazine, or Smokenjoey, but that’s okay, maybe next time. But, he does give a mention through the use of URL’s of some of the products he talks about to a lot of vendors we absolutely love, including Mountain Oak Vapors, Hurricane Vapor, MyVaporStore, and Halo Cigs, so I think we run in the same circles anyway.

Want to know how to get most out of your vaping hobby? Pick up this book and spend a day or two with it. For the price of a single prefilled cartomizer you’ll learn more about vaping then you thought possible.
